Last Touches to Sinking Ships

Today’s post will be short but ending with a party invitation.  How fun is that?

ships 2 2 copy_blue long heart beatWhile lizards race across the patio enjoying temps in the 80s, I’m putting the last touches to the first Abishag mystery, Sinking Ships, before sending it to the formatter. (Note: the cover shown here has been updated with a better photo of the Dominator wreck provided by a former high school classmate.  I’ll show that cover when Sinking Ships is e-published.) Even in the thick of NaNoWriMo, I’m hoping to release the novella before the end of the month. The second in the series of four Abishag mysteries, Indelible Beats, should be available before Christmas.  I’m half way through its final edits now. The third, Riddle in Bones, needs another wash before sending it to my beta readers. The last one, An Eggshell Present, is still a work-in-progress at more than 15K words.

Speaking of NaNoWri, I’ve reached a word count of 30,430. The cohort is doing extraordinary work, achieving incredible goals, and inspiring me with their determination.

Speaking of book releases, Debra Holland sent me this invitation today. Since you know me, you are invited too.

Monday, November 18th, I will be hosting my first ever Facebook launch party at:

I will be joined by ten other authors who’ve contributed short stories to Sweetwater Springs Christmas: A Montana Sky Short Story Anthology. Throughout the day, we’ll be “chatting” and doing playful question and answers. Each hour there will be plenty of giveaways, and at the end of the day, commenters will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Kindle Fire.

If you buy Sweetwater Springs Christmas: A Montana Sky Short Story Anthologybefore November 18th or during the time of the launch party, you can be entered into a grand prize drawing for a $100.00 Amazon gift card. Just forward your Amazon receipt to my assistant Mindy Freed at:

The party starts at 9:00 am Pacific Time and ends at 5:00 pm Pacific Time. The two random drawings for the grand prizes will take place at 5:00 pm. I hope to see you there!

About mlknowlden

In 2011, I left engineering to write full-time. Between the years 1992 and 2011, I’ve published 14 stories with Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine that have featured the hypochondriac detective Micky Cardex and two stories that did not. The 1998 story “No, Thank You, John” was nominated for a Shamus award. Many of these stories have been included in anthologies and translated in multiple languages. With Neal Shusterman, I’ve also published a science fiction story for the More Amazing Stories anthology (Tor) published in 1998 and co-authored with Neal Shusterman an X-Files Young Adult novel (DARK MATTER) for HarperCollins in 1999 under the name Easton Royce. For Simon & Schuster in July 2012, we published an e-novella UNSTRUNG in Neal's UNWIND world. I have graduate degrees in English and Electrical Engineering.
